Persona Obscura is a deck born from the seductive world of the masked ball. Inspired by the opulent masquerades of the Venetian Renaissance, where identities blurred and secrets thrived behind handcrafted masks, we explored the idea of who we become when no one sees our face. We also drew from literature-stories like The Phantom of the Opera, Eyes Wide Shut, and Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, where masks are both invitation and concealment.Each card in Persona Obscura features a mysterious character hidden behind a unique mask. Their posture, costume, and expression offer clues-but never the full truth. Just like the archetypes of tarot, they ask you to look deeper, question what’s real, and discover the parts of yourself that only appear in shadow.

Design
We built a visual style you won't find anywhere else. Gothic realism meets the texture of hand-drawn illustration — mature, serious, human. No cartoons. No fantasy clichés. Just atmosphere.Here's how each card was made: we used AI to generate the initial sketch — the raw composition — and then redrew and refined it by hand in Photoshop. Every character was reworked manually until it earned its place in the deck. AI gave us the first draft; the human hand gave it soul.The palette is deliberate. A deep matte-black box — darkness, velvet, old-world secrecy — pierced by luminous gold foil. Velvet is what's hidden: softness, intimacy, mystery.
