Journey to the West Tarot

This is our fourth deck as tarot creators, and it came from wanting to bring one story into the cards: Journey to the West. We built our own interpretation of the novel's world rather than leaning on any existing adaptation, so the characters and scenes on these cards are ours.

Journey to the West Tarot is a 78-card set built on the Rider-Waite-Smith structure, with the visual theme drawn from the classic Chinese novel. The artwork blends Eastern mythology with a consistent, story-driven illustration style, featuring recognizable figures like the Monkey King and Tripitaka.

Visual theme

Each card is built as a narrative scene, with characters, symbols, and settings drawn from the novel's legendary episodes and mythological imagery. We kept the art direction consistent across all 78 illustrations, so the deck reads as one continuous story rather than 78 separate portraits.
